Hi Lovely!

Many thanks for stopping by Healthier Notions. My name is Jenna Rose Longoria and I am a Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, passionate about hormonal health.

I know what it is like to suffer from hormonal imbalances and digestive discomfort. 

That’s why I’ve dedicated my life to helping others achieve optimum hormonal and digestive health.

My mission to empower women with body literacy, so they can be their own best health advocates.

My relationship with food was not always pleasant. I used to be a chronic dieter, and my weight was constantly yo-yoing. I also suffered for many years from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), which caused me to have painful and irregular periods, anxiety, as well as ovarian cysts that kept putting me in and out of the hospital. My hormones were all over the place, and as a result I felt tired, bloated, and moody all the time. As you can imagine, I was miserable! Even more frustrating is that all the doctors I went to for help couldn’t find out what was wrong with me, and all they wanted to do was prescribe me the birth control pill to mask the problem!

But then one day something magical happened.

I STOPPED DIETING AND DITCHED THE BIRTH CONTROL PILL.

Thanks to the knowledge I learned at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and the Integrative Women’s Health Institute, I developed a new, healthy relationship with food. My relationship changed from one of guilt and fear to one of knowledge, understanding, and gratitude.  Today, I’m living the vibrant life of regular and pain-free periods, I no longer struggle with my weight, and my hunger and blood sugar instability no longer controls me!

This started with three small steps:

  1. I started learning about all the food choices available and I experimented to see what foods worked best with my body, and ditched the diet books that generalize and preach that one diet fits all.
  2. I stopped being concerned with how much I ate, and instead focused on eating nourishing plant-based foods and high quality fats.
  3. I ditched the birth control pill in order to allow my body the ability to produce its own hormones so I could start reconnecting with my menstrual cycle in order to reclaim my period and hormones, and begin the journey of healing my PCOS.

Imagine having an abundance of energy, clear skin, healthy poops, and regular and pain-free periods!

It really can be SO simple!

All it takes is targeted lifestyle tweaks and recommendations that you can easily start doing today to achieve optimum health ASAP. You will be amazed at what your new “normal” will feel like.

It is now my mission to empower all women with the knowledge on how to be their own best health advocates, in order to achieve pain-free periods and optimum fertility! My work has been featured in The Huffington Post , Mind Body Green, the Elephant Journal, and I am the author of 7 Steps to a Healthier You: An Attainable Guide to Health.

My Approach:

As a Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner I get asked what dietary theory I subscribe to. People are always surprised when I say I don’t advocate one specific theory- I preach bio individuality. One man’s poison could be another man’s medicine. 

That’s why my program is individually tailored to YOU. Together, we will find the right foods, supplements and lifestyle choices to get you back to the healthiest version of yourself.

I created Healthier Notions because I am a firm believer that the right diet has the power to heal and prevent disease, and I helps clients achieve their health goals by using holistic methods such as personally tailored food and exercise plans, lifestyle adjustments, and supplements.

In our busy lives, we sometimes veer off the path of health. This doesn’t mean you are a failure and all hope is lost, it just means you need a little help getting back onto the right path.

And this is where I come in! You are not alone on this journey- I will be with you on every step of the way. Whether it be balancing your hormones, healing digestive stress, losing weight, or all of the above.

I received my initial training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I was trained in more than 100 dietary theories. I then studied women’s hormonal health at the Integrative Women’s Health Institute. In addition, I am board certified through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. Drawing on this knowledge, I will help you create a completely personalized health plan that suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals.

A Little More About Health Coach Jenna:

Yoga is a HUGE part of my life! I practice Ashtanga Yoga so I am on the mat every morning, 6-days a week. I also share the practice with others in the mornings at Ashtanga Yoga Houston.

Mornings are my favorite part of the day, and I always start my day off with a cup of warm lemon water, followed by a cup of Bulletproof Coffee! I’m also pretty obsessed with anything almond butter and chocolate, and you will find many recipes on my blog inspired by this lovely duo.

I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived abroad in various countries including Indonesia, Honduras, Taiwan, and India. I’m currently based in Houston, Texas.
